Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 store-bought or homemade pizza dough (enough to cover a sheet pan)

Taco Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning (blend of chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder)
  • 2 tbsp water

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup refried beans or black beans
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • Optional: jalapeños or sliced olives to taste

Garnishes

  • Fresh cilantro leaves
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Taco Meat: Brown the ground beef or turkey in a skillet over medium heat. Drain any excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer until the flavors meld and the mixture thickens slightly.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: Lightly grease a sheet pan and roll out the pizza dough evenly across it, stretching to fill the pan for a thin, crispy base.
  3. Spread Refried Beans: Evenly spread a thin layer of refried or black beans over the dough to add creaminess and protein.
  4. Add the Taco Meat: Distribute the cooked taco meat evenly over the bean layer, ensuring each slice will have savory taco flavor.
  5. Top with Cheese and Veggies: Generously sprinkle shredded cheese on top, followed by chopped tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños or olives as desired.
  6. Bake Until Crispy: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the assembled pizza for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and Serve: After baking, scatter fresh cilantro leaves and squeeze lime juice over the pizza for a bright, fresh finish. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • Preheat your oven fully to achieve a crispy crust.
  • Do not overload the pizza with toppings to avoid sogginess.
  • Add fresh garnishes like cilantro and lime juice after baking to keep flavors vibrant.
  • For extra crunch, par-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Adjust spice levels by increasing taco seasoning or jalapeños as preferred.
