Ingredients

Scale

Meat & Protein

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon

Pasta & Sauce

  • 12 no-boil or classic lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, diced

Cheeses & Dairy

  • 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for topping

Aromatics & Seasonings

  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture: Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté diced onion and half of the minced garlic until fragrant and onions are softened. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, seasoning with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Crumble the cooked bacon and stir it back into the meat mixture. Remove from heat.
  2. Mix the Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, shredded mozzarella, and the remaining minced garlic. Stir until the mixture is creamy and well blended.
  3. Assemble the Layers: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish and spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom to prevent sticking. Layer lasagna noodles evenly, followed by an even spread of the meat mixture, a generous layer of the cheese filling, and a sprinkle of extra Parmesan. Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with noodles, tomato sauce, and cheese topping.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow layers to set.

Notes

  • Drain excess fat after cooking beef and bacon to prevent greasy lasagna.
  • Distribute meat and cheese fillings evenly for consistent flavor.
  • Use fresh garlic for stronger, brighter flavor compared to powders or pre-minced.
  • Allow lasagna to rest before slicing to maintain structure.
  • Customize cheese blends to tailor richness and flavor.
