Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Protein

  • 1 pound high-quality ground beef
  • 68 strips bacon, chopped

Cheeses

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese or 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Pasta

  • 912 lasagna noodles (no-boil or traditional)

Sauce and Vegetables

  • 2 cups tomato sauce (marinara or preferred tomato sauce)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 34 garlic cloves, minced

Seasonings

  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon and ground beef: In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet. Add the ground beef and diced onion to the skillet and cook until the meat is browned and the onions are translucent. Season with salt, pepper, and minced garlic, stirring frequently to combine all flavors.
  2. Prepare the cheese mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese (or heavy cream), grated Parmesan, and shredded mozzarella. Mix well to create a creamy cheese blend for layering.
  3. Assemble the lasagna layers: Spread a layer of tomato sauce at the bottom of your baking dish. Layer cooked noodles over the sauce, followed by a generous portion of the meat and bacon mixture. Spoon over the creamy cheese blend, then repeat the layers. Finish with a thick layer of mozzarella and Parmesan on top to create a golden, bubbly crust.
  4. Bake the lasagna: Cover the dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes so the cheese bubbles and browns perfectly. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving to help it set.

Notes

  • Precook noodles if not using no-boil to prevent sogginess.
  • Drain excess fat from beef and bacon to avoid watery sauce.
  • Use fresh minced garlic for the most vibrant flavor.
  • Let the lasagna rest before cutting to maintain shape.
  • Sprinkle fresh basil or oregano on top for enhanced flavor.
