Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mushrooms: Clean and slice the mushrooms evenly. In a pan over medium heat, sauté them with 1 tablespoon butter, minced garlic, and fresh herbs until golden brown and all liquid has evaporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste to enhance the earthy flavor.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich: Butter one side of each bread slice evenly. On the unbuttered sides, layer the sautéed mushrooms generously, then add slices or shredded sharp cheddar cheese on top. Place the other slice of bread on top with the buttered side facing out to ensure crispiness.
  3. Grill to Perfection: Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the assembled sandwich in the pan. Grill each side for about 3–4 minutes until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts completely. Press gently with a spatula to help meld the ingredients.
