Easy Pizza Roses

Easy Pizza Roses

Easy Pizza Roses are a visually stunning and delicious appetizer featuring layers of soft pizza dough, tangy tomato sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and savory pepperoni slices rolled into charming rose shapes. Perfect for parties or family snacks, these golden, flaky bites bake quickly and can be customized with a variety of fillings and toppings to suit your tastes or dietary needs.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • Pre-made pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • Flour (for dusting and rolling)

Fillings

  • Tomato sauce (marinara or pizza sauce)
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese, generous amount
  • Pepperoni slices, overlapping along one long edge

Toppings

  • Olive oil (for brushing on top)
  • Italian seasoning (sprinkle on top before baking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Lightly flour your surface and roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about 10 by 16 inches. This size ensures the roses will have plenty of layers and fill out nicely when rolled.
  2. Layer the ingredients: Spread a thin, even layer of tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border along the edges. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella evenly on top, followed by overlapping pepperoni slices along one long edge.
  3. Roll and slice: Starting from the pepperoni-topped edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 6 to 8 equal pieces, each piece resembling the shape of a blooming rosebud.
  4. Arrange in the baking dish: Place each slice upright into a greased muffin tin or baking dish. Make sure there’s enough space for the roses to expand during baking.
  5. Bake to perfection: Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dough is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

Notes

  • Make sure ingredients are distributed evenly to prevent uneven cooking or soggy spots.
  • Refrigerate the rolled dough for 10 minutes before slicing to help the slices hold their shape better.
  • Brush olive oil on edges to help the dough brown nicely and add a crispy texture.
  • Use a sharp knife for clean cuts to keep the rose shapes intact and neat.
  • Do not overload toppings, as too many fillings can cause the roses to fall apart or bake unevenly.
