Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs (use gluten-free if needed)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Buns and Toppings

  • 4 burger buns (gluten-free buns optional)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Cheese slices (cheddar, mozzarella, or pepper jack optional)
  • Pickles
  • Your favorite sauce (mayonnaise, aioli, barbecue sauce, or honey mustard)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patty Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, bread crumbs, egg, minced garlic, finely chopped onion, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and fresh parsley or cilantro. Mix gently but thoroughly to keep the texture tender and avoid overworking the meat.
  2. Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a round patty about 3/4 inch thick. This size ensures even cooking and a perfect fit for your buns.
  3. Cook the Patties: Heat a pan or grill over medium heat and add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking. Cook each patty for 5-6 minutes per side, until golden brown and fully cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C) for safety.
  4. Toast the Buns: Lightly toast the burger buns on a dry pan or grill for 1-2 minutes to add a slight crunch and prevent sogginess.
  5. Assemble the Chicken Burger: Begin with the bottom bun, layer lettuce or greens, the cooked chicken patty, tomato slices, cheese (if using), pickles, and your preferred sauce. Top with the upper bun and serve immediately while warm and juicy.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the patty ingredients to keep them tender and light.
  • Chill shaped patties in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure patties are cooked safely to 165°F (75°C).
  • Add a bit of oil to your cooking surface to create a nice crust and prevent sticking.
  • For extra juiciness, include a small amount of finely grated onion or a spoonful of yogurt in the mixture.
